| The Surrogate Mine Field at DRDC Suffield consists of an area of prepared ground has been set aside for CCMAT testing of mechanical assistance devices. Surrogate mechanical mines
developed by Amtech under contract to
CCMAT react to the same trigger conditions as the corresponding real mines
and are buried in the soil to record and compare the performance of different systems being evaluated.
A variety of anti-personnel mine types (after use in a mechanical clearance
device test) are shown in the photograph. The Mechanical Reproduction
Mine product line has been extended to now include Signature Surrogates with a high degree of fidelity for detector tests and
Real-Time Training Surrogates
suitable for de-miner training applications. |
